Distinct blocks combine with groups of fluid lines, suggesting the parallel creative processes and intersecting practices at the heart of the N=12. I’ve left it intentionally abstract and left it to the viewer for interpretation.

Fleeting Thoughts

“Fleeting Thoughts” is a small 100-edition generative art collection that I created for the “Flatlands” exhibition of Alba.art. Each piece in the collection represents a visualization of our inner thoughts. Thoughts come together to form coherent ideas, thoughts diverge into different paths creating chaos, thoughts conflict into opposing sides. Our minds are ever in flux.

Imagine

“Imagine” is a generative art collection of 222 pieces, created for Axiom Space to celebrate the launch of the Ax-2 mission. It showcases fictional star maps that transport viewers to worlds yet to be discovered. In the far future, as humans venture ever farther out into space, we will encounter new worlds and new skies. This collection offers a glimpse of what those skies might look like — each star map a vision of the universe as we have yet to see it.
Each piece invites the viewer to engage their imagination and find objects, animals, and mythical heroes within the shapes and patterns of the unique constellations drawn between the stars.

Coiling Curves

“Coiling Curves” is a small collection of three artworks sold digitally and two turned into high quality wooden jigsaw puzzles. These pieces came from a tangent of one of my many spirograph base explorations. These take the spirograph paths and turn them into chunky, vibrant loops that weave into each other.

As yet another exploration of spirographs, I looked into making some “chunky” spirographs (using a vibrant color palette). The chunky-ness of the results didn’t turn each output from the algorithm into a visually beautiful result. However, when “all the stars aligned” it had some amazing results! I therefore knew I wanted to turn this into a tiny set of less than 10 pieces that I would manually pick (from hundreds of outputs). Finally, three Coiling Curves were sold as some of my first NFTs on Foundation in the summer of 2021. You can see them here: #1, #2 & #3.

Twistings / Curated

A generative art collection of seven pieces that I meticulously hand-picked from over 1000 outputs of the “Twistings” algorithm, which explores the beauty & variety that is hidden within the simple math of Archimedean spirals. Each piece in the collection is created from the same underlying spiral-based algorithm. Although you see dozens or even hundreds of triangles, some fully colored, others hatched, no actual lines or corners are drawn. Instead, everything on the canvas is drawn from millions of perfect circles.

exhibition

Unpredictable Lines

The “Obscured” collection was released during the “Unpredictable Lines” exhibition held by Cortesi Gallery / C-VERSO in Milan, held from July 7th until August 5th, 2022 as part of a group show with three other generative artists.

No actual lines, no masking, no hard edges, instead everything on the canvas is drawn from millions of perfect circles. I wanted to explore how I could create overlapping shapes, lines, and possibly a Moiré effect (although I moved away from the latter early on in the creation process) by using just tiny dots. After some initial tests I was immediately drawn to the gritted texture I could create on the screen. As if I had screen printed, or riso printed the triangles on the canvas.

Dreams of Hubble

“Dreams of Hubble” is a small collection of triptychs, all based on some of the most famous and colorful photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Various layers of triangles elude to the original photo that this piece was created with. It takes the details of the photo to an abstract level bringing it back to its most basic shape and colors. Each part of the triptych shows a different level of this abstraction, from highly abstract to being able to recognize the nebula or galaxy (if one is familiar with the original photo).

Amorphous Symmetry

“Amorphous Symmetry” is a collection of 10 unique pieces, all stemming from the same underlying generative algorithm. They once came into existence by the motion of multiple circles rotating around each other, before getting caught in an endless drowsy dance of symmetry flowing along their silky curves. These pieces were be exhibited at the International Modern and Contemporary Art Fair in Milan on LED Walls at the Piazza Gae Aulenti square during 1-3 April 2022 through Art Innovation Gallery.

Anhedra

“Anhedra” is a generative art collection that I created for GEN.ART. For this collection I was inspired by the process through which minerals (and rocks) are created, especially when growth occurs in a competitive environment and different minerals collide and form fascinating arrangements together. However, instead of having different atomic elements to grow, Anhedra uses a wide variety of color palettes, and sometimes goes beyond how processes would happen within nature, combining both the digital and organic.

Rotae

“Rotae” is a generative art collection that I created for Art Blocks. It is based on, and is an ode to, the vast array of beautiful shapes that can appear from the seemingly simple process of letting circles rotate on (many more) circles. Like all Art Blocks projects, this project has the generative algorithm that I created (±11kb) be forever inscribed into the Ethereum blockchain. When minting a piece, there is no way to know how the result will look. Only by making the transaction itself is the “hash” created that is used as input into my algorithm, thereby creating the image.
