Combining Google Trends data with various public datasets, I designed a fully bespoke visual language of illustrated birds, playful metaphors, and custom interactive charts that invite users to explore patterns across nearly 700 species. It blends rigorous analysis, crafted illustration, and thoughtful UX to turn complex data into an engaging, memorable experience for both birders and anybody even remotely interested in birds.

Anhedra

“Anhedra” is a generative art collection that I created for GEN.ART. For this collection I was inspired by the process through which minerals (and rocks) are created, especially when growth occurs in a competitive environment and different minerals collide and form fascinating arrangements together. However, instead of having different atomic elements to grow, Anhedra uses a wide variety of color palettes, and sometimes goes beyond how processes would happen within nature, combining both the digital and organic.

Anhedra

“Anhedra” is a generative art collection that I created for GEN.ART. They all stem from the same underlying algorithm. However, each piece is differently fine-tuned to form a representation of their element.

For this collection I combined elements of generative art and data art. In the fall the “deciduous” plants lose their leaves only to grow back again in the next spring. The animation happening in “Breathing Earth” shows how 50.000 circles move through all 52 weeks of 2016 and visualize the seasonal cycles. Thereby displaying the how vegetation health changes throughout the year and how plant growth & decline occur on different times and scales in the many regions across the Earth.
